Over 3 billion shares traded, Prime, Prabhu, NMB, Global IME and NIC Bank had the highest turnover.

Kathmandu. Shares worth Rs 3.37 billion were bought and sold on Thursday, the last day of the year. Though the stock market index Nepse turned negative by 1.78 percent, the transaction amount has increased by Rs 310 million as compared to the previous day.

A total of 1365,000 shares of 192 companies listed on Nepse were traded 41,909 times on Thursday. Shares of Prime Commercial, Prabhu, NMB, Global IME and NIC Asia Bank traded higher during the trading session.

Investors of Shiva Shree Hydropower, which rose by Rs 12 per share on the same day, made huge profits from the market on Thursday. Similarly, investors of Nepal Finance, which increased by Rs 22, and Mithila MFI, which increased by Rs 39, also earned a lot from the market.

Meanwhile, investors in Sindhu Development Bank, Shree Investment Finance, United Modi Hydropower, Kumari and Laxmi Bank had to bear huge losses. Of the 12 subgroups traded on Thursday, six rose and six declined.

The trade sub-group index rose the most at 1.37 percent, while the manufacturing and processing sub-group index fell 1.13 percent.
