Kathmandu. In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, remittances worth Rs. 642 billion have entered the country. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, remittance inflows increased by 8.6 percent during the period.
The remittance inflow had increased by 1.5 percent in the review period. In US dollar terms, remittance inflows increased by 5.0 percent to Rs 5.45 billion. Such inflows had increased by 1.5 percent in the previous year.
During the review period, the number of Nepalis seeking final employment permits (institutional and individual-new and legalized) for foreign employment decreased by 74.8 percent. Such number had increased by 24.2 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year. The number of Nepalis seeking re-employment for foreign employment decreased by 65.2 percent during the review period. Such number had decreased by 2.7 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Net transfer increased by 7.2 percent to Rs. 718.70 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. Such transfers had increased by 1.0 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
