Kathmandu. Large private hospitals in the valley have been found to charge exorbitant fees for corona infections. The daily fee for an isolation bed is only Rs 7,000, while for an ICU and ventilator bed it is Rs 26,000 per day.

Adding the fees of medicine, nurses and doctors, it seems that the fees of private hospitals cannot be touched.

The Ministry of Health and Population has fixed a daily fee of Rs 3,500 for the treatment of corona infected, Rs 7,000 for moderate and Rs 15,000 for serious treatment. Accordingly, private hospitals have also been offered to sign service agreements.

But the big hospitals in the valley are not ready to provide treatment at the fee fixed by the government.

Medicity has set a daily fee of Rs 12,500 for a single isolation room for a corona patient. The twins have been set at Rs 6,000 for sharing room, Rs 20,000 for ICU bed and Rs 25,000 for ventilator. There is no extra charge for food and lunch after paying this fee.

Grandi Hospital charges from Rs 7,000 to Rs 26,500 per day depending on the facility.

Apart from this, the charge for medicines, medical services, tests and other services will be different.

Hams Hospital in Dhumbarahi has issued a notice stating a minimum daily bed fee of Rs 7,000 to Rs 50,000 for the treatment of covid infection.

Patients or relatives of patients coming to the hospital for covid treatment have to get the fee approved.

According to the information issued by the hospital, in addition to the above mentioned bed expenses, medicines, medical services and other expenses will have to be borne by the patients themselves.
