Kathmandu. The central bank has adopted high vigilance after hackers threatened to hack 15 banks, including the National Bank. NRB has directed the IT department of all banks and financial institutions to provide one-to-one reporting of daily transactions.
The screenshot, which was allegedly emailed to NRB spokesperson Dev Kumar Dhakal, co-spokesperson Narayan Prasad Pokhrel and Nabil Bank CEO Anil Keshari Shah, went viral. Similarly, a hacker's threatening phone call came to the mobile phone of NRB spokesperson Dhakal on Thursday morning.
So far, the system of GL, RTGS, NCHLM and core banking system of commercial banks and development banks have been secured on the basis of Initial Security Assessment (ISA), said Bam Bahadur Mishra, Deputy Governor of NRB.
He said that even if a hacker hacked the system from any corner of the world, Nepali currency would not be converted into international currency and he could not hack the money.
