Kathmandu. Three-digit shortcodes will be available for digital financial services. The Telecommunication Authority of Nepal (TAN) has decided to use USSD or SMS short code for digital financial services. Such service providers will be able to get the service only on the basis of permission obtained from Nepal Rastra Bank.
In order to obtain this code, you will need to provide proof of permission to operate a financial service. Similarly, if a service provider has to use USSD or SMS short code while operating digital financial services, it should request USSD or SMS short code authority through the concerned telecommunication service provider.
Provide USSD or SMS short codes to digital financial service providers. The NEA has stated that the number 5 in the front and the two digits in the back in the short code will indicate that it is a service provider licensed by the National Bank.
