Kathmandu. In the current financial year, banks have made a profit of more than 6 billion. According to Nepal Rasht Bank, commercial banks by the end of May of the financial year 2078/79 has earned a profit equal to 6 billion 46 crore 38 lakh rupees.

Among the 27 operating commercial banks, Global IME Bank remains the leader in earning the highest profit. Global has made a profit equal to 4.85 billion rupees by the end of May. Which is followed by NIC Asia Bank. NIC Asia has managed to make a profit of Rs 4.59 billion in the last 11 months.

Similarly, there are 7 commercial banks including Nabil Bank among those who earn more than 3 billion. Among them, National Commercial Bank has earned a profit of 3.92 billion rupees, Nabil 3.82 billion rupees, Prime 3.54 billion rupees, NMB 3.34 billion rupees and Nepal Investment Bank has earned a profit equal to 3.222 billion rupees.

Similarly, there are 7 commercial banks in the list of those who earn more than 2 billion rupees and less than 3 billion rupees. These include Nepal, Mega, Siddharth, Everest, Krishi Bikas, Sanima and Citizens Bank.

During the review period, the profit of all banks is above billion. Most of the banks are in profit making between 1 to 2 billion rupees. Civil Bank is among the lowest profit earners. The National Bank has informed that the bank has earned a profit equal to 1.21 billion rupees in these 11 months.
