Why Nepalese Banks not using Nepali Banking software ?

Kathmandu. Most of 26 commercial banks of nepal using foreign banking software. Nepali software is not of poor quality, but banks are not interested in Nepali products. It has been more than 20 years since the launch of banking software in Nepal. That software can also compete with foreign software. But the bank has not been able to believe.

Mercantile is the first company to introduce internet in Nepal. This company also launched a banking software called 'Pumri' in Nepal. This software is used only by few commercial banks, some development banks and some finance in Nepal. Only 4 commercial banks are using Nepali software. In which government banks National Commercial Bank, Kumari Bank, Century Bank, and NCC Bank have used Nepali software only.

By using Nepali software, crores of foreign money has been saved. But most of the banks in Nepal are using foreign software. Director of Information Technology Department of Nepal Rastra Bank Shivram Dawadi says that the future of Nepali technicians is bright.

He says that even though Nepali companies can make good software, there is still a lot of development to be done. He said that now because foreign companies provide more services than Nepali companies, banks use foreign software. But experts in this field say that Nepali companies do not provide less service than foreign companies. They say that if Nepali banks trust Nepali companies and spend as much as they do for foreign companies, then Nepali software is A One.

The software used by the bank has brought ease in service delivery. From the situation of payment by check, the technology to pay money directly from mobile has been developed. Even though such softwares have been developed in Nepal to a sufficient extent, Nepali banks have not shown any interest in using them. Most of the banks are using foreign software.

Due to this, bringing the software used in Nepali Bank from abroad has caused a lot of money to go abroad. Chiranjeevi Adhikari, Secretary of Computer Association Federation, says that if the government is saying that foreign currency reserves are decreasing, if such software can be used only by Nepali products, Nepali products will be used to save foreign money.
