Kathmandu. President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed Janardan Sharma as Finance Minister on the recommendation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Today, he appointed Sharma as a minister to take charge of the Ministry of Finance, which is currently held by the Prime Minister, according to the President's Office.

According to a statement released today by Sagar Acharya, the spokesperson of the President's Office, Sharma was appointed on the recommendation of the Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal in the existing Council of Ministers formed on 29 June 2078 under the leadership of Prime Minister Deuba.

The then finance minister Janardhan Sharma resigned from the post on June 22 when controversy arose after the news that the revenue rates were changed with the involvement of unauthorized persons during the preparation of the budget. The parliamentary committee formed to investigate the matter submitted a report to the parliament that found no evidence that unauthorized persons were involved in the preparation of the budget. After that, Sharma was re-appointed as a minister today.
