There are mainly 3 types of colors that we wear on Holi. One color comes in a paste, another is a powder, and the other is water-based. Paints available in the form of pastes contain various chemicals, which seriously affect the eyes and kidneys along with the skin.

Dust paint is also risky from the health point of view. Metals are mixed in the powder color. Similarly, glass shards, silicon are also mixed into the dust. This color also affects the skin as well as the kidneys, liver and eyes. Such colors have a long-term effect on the body. Children are especially affected. According to doctors, there is a risk of asthma, kidney failure and even cancer due to the chemicals mixed in the paint.

Colors mixed with water are also natural and artificial. Most of the colors available in the market during Holi are artificial. As these colors contain a lot of chemicals, they affect human health as well as the environment. These colors affect not only the skin but also the hair and nails. Such color causes burning, pain, itching and swelling of the skin.

Due to the effect of such colors, the hair becomes dry and falls.

Depending on the color, the chemicals added to it are also different. The red color contains a chemical called 'mercury sulphide'. Black contains 'lead oxide', green contains 'copper sulphide'. Similarly, other colors also contain chemicals that affect human health. These colors affect children with soft skin and pregnant women more. If the dye enters the skin of a pregnant woman, there may be a risk of miscarriage and low birth weight. Therefore, it is advised by the doctor not to use bright and shiny colors as much as possible.
