Kathmandu: By the end of the third quarter of the current financial year, the net profit of commercial banks has decreased by 13.47 percent to 40 billion 683 million 81 thousand rupees. In the same period of the previous year, the banks earned a net profit of 47 billion 1 crore 53 lakh 94 thousand rupees. It has been seen that there is pressure on their profits due to the provision of a large amount of income. Recently, the increase in bad loans of banks has affected the income.
The performance of banks has not been satisfactory due to economic recession, slow business, low demand for credit etc. Among the 20 banks, Nabil Bank is leading the way in making the most profit. It has earned 4 billion 66 billion 80 lakh 29 thousand profit. Second, Global IME Bank has earned a profit of 3 billion 300 million.
During the period of 1 year, the net profit of 13 commercial banks has decreased, while the net profit of 7 banks has increased. Agriculture Bikas Bank has the highest profit increase. Its net profit increased by 97.22 percent to 2.5 billion 31 lakh 66 thousand. Nepal Bank is the one with the biggest decrease in profit. Its profit has decreased by 92.68 percent to 135 million rupees.
