Demand of Bankers Association : To start bancassurance service and not to blame bankers

Banks have demanded the resumption of bancassurance services and not to impose banking offenses on the basis of the banker's signature.

The Bankers' Association has submitted suggestions to the Nepal Rastra Bank for the monetary policy for the coming fiscal year.

Earlier, banks used to sell insurance policies to their customers. The Insurance Committee, the regulatory body for the insurance sector, had stopped selling insurance policies to banks after banks were criticized for forcing customers to insure.

The Nepal Bankers' Association has said that it is not justifiable to accuse the banker of banking offense even after signing the loan.

Stating that a case has been filed against the banker in recent days for working with good intentions, the association drew the attention of NRB to the suggestion.

The association has suggested in writing that this issue should be rectified through the monetary policy of the Fiscal Year 2077/78.

The union said in a statement, "For some time now, under the Banking Offenses and Punishment Act, it has been a common practice for employees of banks and financial institutions to act in good faith on the basis of signing any document related to the flow of credit." Necessary steps have been taken to increase the confidence in the banking sector by addressing the negative impact on the entire banking sector due to the fear of being imprisoned and involved in the legal process. We request you to do it.
