Kathmandu. Banks have closed their branches today (Friday) from 2077 Kartik 7 to Kartik 11 in view of the corona virus infection.
The Nepal Bankers' Association, an umbrella organization of banks, has already decided not to open a limited branch as there is a possibility of increasing the risk of moving to Corona. Chief Executive Officer of the Association, Anil Sharma, has informed that all the branches of the commercial banks will be closed for five days from November 22 to 23 as per the schedule.
As banks have been giving priority to ATMs and digital transactions, the service of opening branches by encouraging digital banking has been discontinued. The closure of commercial banks during the decade will not fall under the jurisdiction of Nepal Rastra Bank, according to the Department of Regulation, Rastra Bank.
