The proposed of Standard Chartered dividend will not be accepted by NRB, Why ?

The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank has proposed to pay 11.84 percent dividend to its investors. However, the ratio of bonus shares to cash dividends is not seen in this proposal. That is why the NRB has made it clear that it will not approve the dividend proposal of this bank.

Dev Kumar Dhakal, executive director of the Department of Banking and Financial Institutions Regulation, said that the ratio of bonus share and cash dividend should be maintained at 70:30 when banks declare dividends as per the directive of NRB.

Chartered has proposed to distribute 7 percent bonus share and 4.84 percent cash dividend from the distributable profits of the last fiscal year. Accordingly, the ratio of cash dividend is more than 40 percent.
