Kathmandu. The Nepse index, which measures share turnover, has risen by more than 64 points On Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the year, the Nepse index increased by 64.70 points to 1,874.88 points.
18,846,181 shares exchanged hands via 42,151 transactions. Trading of 196 scrips brought the total turnover to a little over Rs. 6.81 Arba. This is the second-highest turnover in NEPSE's history, second only to the record maintained this month itself.
Along with the Nepse index, the Sensitive Index, which measures the turnover of Class A companies, has also risen. The sensitive index has risen by 12.96 points to reach 362.34 points.
The transaction amount has exceeded Rs 5 billion and the share price of three companies has gone up by 10 percent. Shares of Shivam Cement, NMB Microfinance and Bishal Bazar Company rose 10 percent, causing a circuit break.
A total of 1,44,18,120 shares of 196 companies have been traded through 40,765 transactions during the day. Out of which, shares worth Rs 5.13 billion were traded, according to the Nepal Stock Exchange.
Of the 13 subgroups traded on Nepse on Wednesday, hotels declined by 1.02 points while all other groups rose. The largest increase was in trade by 7.93 percent or 179.99 points.
Similarly, banking rose by 40.4 points, development bank by 29.18 points, hydropower by 24.78 points, finance by 15.28 points, non-life insurance by 316.69 points, manufacturing by 300.33 points, microfinance by 106.86 points and life insurance by 190.43 points
