Of the premium earned from July to December, Rs 62.85 billion is for life insurance and Rs 15.20 billion for non-life insurance. Among the life insurance companies, Nepal Life Insurance has earned the highest premium while Mahalakshmi Life Insurance has earned the least. Among the new insurance companies, Union Life Insurance has earned the most insurance premiums. The company has earned Rs 3.30 billion in insurance premiums in the first six months of the current fiscal year. The company's share in the total life insurance market is 5.25 percent.
Similarly, non-life insurance companies have earned the highest peak insurance. The company has earned Rs 2.11 billion in insurance premiums in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Sanima General Insurance has earned the lowest premium on non-life insurance.
Nepal Life Insurance accounts for 28.04 percent of the total life insurance premiums, while Nepal Life alone contributes more than 28 percent. The second highest insurance company is Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). The company has earned Rs 9.61 billion in premiums during the six-month period. The company has set a target of selling Rs 6.5 billion in new insurance policies in the current fiscal year, said LIC Chief Executive Officer Laxmi Prasad Das. It has earned insurance premium by selling 2.5 billion new policies till January.
Rastriya Bima Sanstha is the third company to earn more premium by earning Rs 5.81 billion. Similarly, National Life Insurance has collected Rs 5.54 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year, followed by Asian Life at Rs 3.16 billion, Surya Life at Rs 2.29 billion, Gunras Life at Rs 2.13 billion and Met Life at Rs 2.5 billion.
