Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has provided Rs. 7 billion to the Election Commission for the upcoming elections on April 3 and 4. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel informed that Rs. 7 billion has been disbursed to the Election Commission during the mid-year review of the budget for the fiscal year 2077/78 on Tuesday. The government has estimated that the election will cost around Rs 30 billion.
He said that despite the allocation of expenditure for the Election Commission, there was no demand for expenditure for the army and police. On the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Bidyadevi Bhandari had dissolved the House of Representatives on December 20 and announced a two-phase election in April.
