Kathmandu. Sunrise Bank Chief Executive Officer Janak Sharma Poudyal has resigned. Poudel, who has been in controversy since the day of his appointment, had submitted his resignation to the board of directors a few months ago but was stopped by the chairman of the committee.

The then finance minister's son Tilak Raj Khatiwada was also involved in his survival. Tilak is an employee of the same bank while Chairman Motilal Dugad was rumored to be under external pressure to save CEO Poudel's job.

The appointment of the bank's CEO came just months after a dispute between the bank's managers led to his resignation. However, his resignation was not accepted due to the chairman of the bank's board of directors and he resigned 19 months after his appointment.
