Share investors' capital increased by Rs 16 trillion in Nepal

Kathmandu. The share market capitalization has increased by more than Rs 1.6 trillion in the last seven months.

According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the market capitalization has increased by Rs 1.613 trillion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. The market capitalization of the stock market was Rs 1.792 trillion in mid-July last year.

The market capitalization has increased to Rs. 346.17 billion by mid-January.

The share market capitalization stood at Rs 3,079.94 billion in mid-December last year. Share market capitalization is the market value of listed companies. The share price of companies has been increasing recently and the capital of investors has increased.

However, the rise in share price is not the only reason for the increase in capitalization. Some new companies have been added, including the capitalization of those companies has reached over 34 trillion.

The number of companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited last December was 215. Of the listed companies, 145 are banks and financial institutions and insurance companies, while 37 are hydropower companies, 19 are manufacturing and processing industries, 4/4 are hotels and businesses and 6 are other groups. The number of listed companies was 212 in July 2012.

Of the listed companies, banks and financial institutions and insurance companies accounted for 71.9 percent of the market capitalization. Similarly, the share of hydropower company is 6.4 percent, manufacturing and processing industry is 4.7 percent, hotel is 0.8 percent, business is 0.5 percent and other group companies have 15.7 percent.

The paid up value of 5.35 billion shares listed in Nepse as of last December is Rs. 525.79 billion.
