Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB)  Rs 730 billion in cash,  Rs 46 billion more increased

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has added Rs 46 billion in cash in one month. The NRB's monthly financial statements for the month of January show such an increase as compared to mid-January.

As of mid-January, NRB had cash and cash assets of Rs 729.94 billion. This was equivalent to Rs 684.09 billion in the corresponding period of the previous month. Such assets have increased by about Rs 46 billion this month, according to a NRB statement.

NRB has significantly reduced the size of its investment during this period. NRB's investment, which was Rs. 722 billion in the previous month, has come down to Rs. 642 billion in January. Such investment has decreased by Rs 80 billion in a month.

Meanwhile, more than Rs. 300 billion has been deposited in the account of NRB in the name of various bodies of the Government of Nepal. NRB has stated that Rs. 307 billion has been deposited in the name of the government in mid-January. In mid-December, the government treasury had only Rs 264 billion. This increase in mid-January is equivalent to about Rs 43 billion.
