The World Bank supporting Rs 3 billion for Covid vaccination and health services

Kathmandu. The World Bank will provide Rs 2.92 billion (25 million US dollars) for other health services to help Nepal purchase the Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) vaccine. Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire, spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, said that the bank is going to provide this assistance for the purchase of vaccine against covid and other health services as it is a global epidemic.

"The World Bank Board has decided to provide 25 million US dollars to Nepal," he said. "Now that our cabinet has passed, we will sign the agreement." The World Bank will provide the amount through fast track. The Government of Nepal has also disbursed Rs. 1 billion twice for the purchase of covid vaccine.

The novel corona virus has so far spread to more than 60 countries. Under the fast-track package, the Covid World Bank will work to improve health systems, improve access to health care, protect against epidemics, increase disease surveillance, improve public health and reduce economic impact in collaboration with the private sector.
