Kathmandu. Three organizations related to information technology have suggested the government to make legal arrangements for the construction of secure cyberspace within a year by establishing institutional and organizational infrastructure within six months.
Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation), Center for Cyber Security Research and Innovation and Information Security Response Team Nepal have jointly suggested this.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has made public the draft of the National Cyber Security Policy, 2078 BS.
Representatives of three organizations have handed over written suggestions to Secretary of the Ministry Hari Prasad Basyal. In the suggestion, these organizations have demanded periodic examination of the institutional security policy of private and public bodies that collect, process, use and store sensitive data of the citizens.
They also called for the creation of infrastructure for data exchange with national and international service providers for data security, data governance and personal privacy of citizens' online identities and the enactment of cyber insurance laws.
Similarly, it is suggested to upgrade Nepal in global cyber security, conduct regular study, research and innovation related to cyber security, prepare national cyber security framework, prepare cyber security master plan.
He also suggested setting up a working group to encourage ethical hackers and to review security management, incident management, risk identification and vulnerabilities.
