Kathmandu. The Inland Revenue Department has made public the personal tax rate for the fiscal year 2078/79. The department has made public the different tax rates for singles and couples in terms of income.

According to the public tax rate, a single person with only employment income will have to pay tax at the rate of 1 percent if he has taxable income up to Rs.450,000.

Similarly, if the taxable income is between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, the minimum amount of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh will be taxed at the rate of 10 percent in the case of a single person.

In case of such couple, if the taxable income is above Rs. 450,000 to Rs. 550,000, they will have to pay tax at the rate of 10 percent on the amount.

Similarly, in case of taxable income up to Rs. In the case of such couples, if the taxable income is from Rs. 550,000 to Rs. 750,000, they will have to pay tax at the rate of 20 percent on the amount.

Similarly, if the taxable income is more than Rs 2 million, the individual will have to pay tax at the rate of 36 percent on the amount of more than Rs 2 million in addition to Rs 444,000 per annum. In the case of the couple, if the taxable income is more than Rs 2 million, they have to pay tax at the rate of 36 percent in addition to the minimum amount of Rs 4,29,500.
