Kathmandu. The troubled hydropower projects will get refinancing. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has amended the refinancing procedure to provide refinancing up to Rs. 200 million for hydropower projects of less than 10 MW capacity which are in crisis due to COVID.

Such refinancing will be for a maximum of one year. Prior to this, NRB had not classified the hydropower projects as covid affected areas. The Central Bank has classified the affected hydropower projects as the areas most affected by KOVID by making the second amendment of the working procedure.

NRB spokesperson Dev Kumar Dhakal said that the refinancing facility would be provided to the troubled hydropower projects on the recommendation of the committee formed to study the problems of the financially distressed hydropower projects operated by the private sector.
