Half a dozen commercial banks under the action of NRB

Kathmandu. As of mid-April of the current fiscal year, half a dozen commercial banks have been taken into action by the National Bank.

These banks have been taken into action for operating against the directives of the regulatory body.

NRB has taken action against the banks working against the prescribed rules during the on-site monitoring. Among the central bank's actions are Prabhu Bank, Civil Bank, Global IME Bank, Standard Chartered and Laxmi Bank.

Lakshmi Bank in the first quarter, Standard Chartered Bank, Global IME Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank in the second quarter and Civil Bank, Prabhu Bank in the third quarter.

Executive Director of the National Bank Supervision Department Gunakar Bhatta said that action has been taken as per the rules after Prabhu Bank and Civil Bank were found to have acted against the rules and regulations.
