Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that scrub typhus with symptoms similar to Kovid-19 has started appearing. Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry, said that scrub typhus, a disease similar to the symptoms of Kovid-19, has started appearing.

He also requested to be aware of the disease. Scrub typhus, such as Covid-19, causes high fever, red eyes, cough, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, difficulty breathing, severe headaches, joint and muscle aches, sickness, and sometimes black spots on the bite site.

 Scrub typhus ‘Orinsia susugamasi’ is a disease transmitted to humans by the bite of a small tick that is infected with the bacterium. According to him, scrub typhus can cause infections in the brain, liver, lungs and sometimes multi-organ delphus.

The ministry has requested to test for scrub typhus even if it is negative while testing Covid-19 as it is similar to Covid-19. Scrub typhus is a disease that is transmitted to humans after being bitten by an infected tick in the ear of a mouse or other animal.

It is recommended to wear long-sleeved clothes and suitable shoes while going to the field, bush or forest to avoid tick bites and use pesticide ointment on the exposed part of the body.
