Kathmandu. The active deposit account of banks and financial institutions in Nepal has reached 109 percent. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the total number of listed deposit accounts has reached 33.26 million as of last July, which is 9 percent more than the population projected by the Central Statistics Office (33.55 million 862).
The share of men in the total deposit account is 49 percent and the share of women is 35 percent. The data is based on accounts in commercial banks, development banks and finance companies.
According to the NRB, access to deposit accounts is 337 percent in metropolitan cities, 203 percent in metropolitan cities and 103 percent in municipalities, while the lowest is in village municipalities at 24 percent.
