Chitwan, KP Sharma Oli has been elected as the chairperson of the 10th National General Convention of Kathmandu CPN-UML. He defeated his rival Bhim Rawal by a huge margin and was elected chairman. He has been elected chairman of the UML for a second term. Earlier, Madhav Kumar had defeated Nepal in the ninth general convention and Oli was elected as the president.
Oli was elected as the chairperson, surpassing Bhim Rawal by 1595 votes. Out of the total 2,096 votes cast, 1,808 votes were cast in favor of Oli while Rawal got 213 votes. Also, 75 votes have been cast in the by-elections.
The commission has yet to announce the results of the formal vote. Out of 2,153 delegates, 2,096 votes were cast. The results will be announced soon as the voting will be done through electronic voting machine. General Convention delegate votes were recorded in 69 voting machines.
