Kathamandu: Rajendra Lingden of Jhapa has been elected as the chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party. Rajendra Lingden was born in Dhungesanghu of Taplejung district on September 7, 2022. He is a permanent resident of Jhapa. He is also the founding president of RPP's student organization 'Rashtriya Prajatantrik Vidyarthi Sangathan'. Linden had won the ward chairmanship from Goldhap in Jhapa in the 2049 BS and 2054 BS elections.

He had been losing to Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula. He defeated Sitaula of the Nepali Congress by a huge margin and won the House of Representatives in 2074 BS. Linden became the central member of RPP-Nepal in 2064 BS. Lingden, a Jhapali leader who was involved in RPP's politics after coming to multi-party politics through Panchayat politics, was applauded for saving the RPP from zero seats. Linden, who has been in RPP politics for a long time, is from Jhapa Haldibari. With Linden's victory, Jhapa has once again come to the fore in Nepali politics.

Some time ago, KP Sharma Oli of Jhapa was elected for a second term as the chairman of the CPN-UML, Nepal's largest political party. With Linden's victory, Jhapa has again given birth to a new leadership in national politics. There are influential leaders not only in UML and RPP but also in Congress in Jhapa. Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula is from Bhadrapur while Bishwaprakash Sharma is from Mechinagar.

Linden is successful not only in the party but also in the parliamentary elections. Linden defeated the influential Congress leader Sitaula and won the seat in the House of Representatives. Not only that, while RPP has shrunk across the country, it has improved in Jhapa. Out of 15 municipalities, RPP has won the chairmanship of Kachankawal, Haldibari and Gauriganj village municipalities. This is Linden's hard work.

Linden has been saying that he has taken the lead in bringing the party back to the old rhythm. Linden, who had worked closely with Kamal Thapa in the past, had contested against Thapa this time. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture. Linden, the party president who advocates Hinduism, believes in the Kirant religion. "We write Kirant in the palace of religion," says Rabindra, Rajendra's brother and chairman of RPP Jhapa Constituency No. 3B. It is a matter of identity. We do not have to be hesitant. It is the eternal Hindu religion that connects all Nepalis from Mechi to Mahakali. '

Rabindra, who is also the chairman of Haldibari village municipality, said that with the victory of his brother, the need for generational transfer in RPP has been confirmed. "There has been talk of a change of leadership in RPP for a long time. He said that the victory has facilitated the establishment of Sanatan Hindu Dharma and constitutional monarchy in the agenda of RPP. Rajendra said that he would include old leaders including Kamal Thapa to take the party forward.
