Cryptocurrency trading is Illegal in Nepal - Nepal Rastra Bank

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has warned that strict action will be taken against those found trading in cryptocurrencies, hyper funds and other virtual currencies. Stating that such transactions have been taking place for the sake of high returns lately, NRB has said that such transactions cannot be done anywhere.

On Sunday, the Foreign Exchange Department of NRB issued a notice stating that Nepalis or foreign nationals living in Nepal as well as Nepalis living abroad are not allowed to do such transactions. Lately, Nepalis living abroad have been investing in hyper funds saying that they can earn a lot of profit in a short time.

Nepalis living abroad have been using their relatives in Nepal for such business. Stating that there have been widespread complaints about this, NRB has said that if such transactions are not done, action will be taken according to the law.
