Corona infected bankers get paid leave with work from home instruction by NRB

Kathmandu. Banks have been providing various facilities to the employees of Corona infected banks. Banks are offering everything from corona worms to paid leave to bank employees infected with the global epidemic of corona virus.

According to the banks, the banks are managing the infected employees as per the instructions of Nepal Rastra Bank. Last year, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) had made it a policy for the employees of the bank and financial institution to bear the entire medical expenses by giving extra leave including salary in case of corona infection while providing services. Banks are still pursuing this policy.

Last year, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) had made arrangements for the employees living in isolation to be given additional leave with pay during the period of isolation and for the employees living in quarantine to provide work from home during the period of stay in quarantine.

According to the Nepal Bankers Association, the banks are still working according to the same directive. According to the Bankers' Association, a total of 5,800 employees of commercial banks have been infected with corona so far. A total of 142 branches of commercial banks have also been closed due to the large number of employees. The service will start after the employee is free from infection.

According to Anil Kumar Upadhyaya, president of the Nepal Bankers' Association and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Agriculture Development Bank, the situation is now more comfortable than before. He said that it was difficult for a person to get corona infection in the past but now it is not so difficult to keep them in isolation in hotels and other places like before.

Similarly, Chairman of Nepal Financial Institution Employees Union Padma Raj Regmi said that banks and financial institutions are working according to the facilities provided by Nepal Rastra Bank last year. According to him, the bank management is providing various services to the infected employees as per the need.

NRB has repeatedly instructed the employees of the financial institutions to adopt high vigilance and complete security measures as the number of corona infections has started increasing.

NRB has directed the banks and financial institutions to make necessary arrangements to keep the infected employees safe in isolation at home, hospital or hotel immediately.

Banks and financial institutions had been instructed last year to pay for the expenses incurred during the treatment and to come to the office only after the PCR test results of the infected employees in isolation or quarantine are negative. The same directive is still in force. Bank employees are working from home even though Corona is infected. Banks have been managing various health facilities including facilities for them.
