NRB prepare to bring own 'Digital Currency'

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has started a study to bring its own virtual currency (digital currency). The NRB, which has recently started dealing in currencies like cryptocurrency, has started discussions by forming a committee to bring its own currency.

Spokesperson of Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Gunakar Bhatta said that the initial phase of the study has been started. Recently, digital currency has been traded in many countries. Currencies like bitcoin and cryptocurrency are illegal in Nepal.

India has already announced to bring its own digital currency by including it in the budget of the current fiscal year. The study has also started in Nepal after the neighboring countries announced to bring their own digital currency.

A committee has been formed under the coordination of the director of the money management department of the National Bank and the responsibility of the study has been given.
