Commercial bank shares cheap in stock market, less than 15 times average PE

Kathmandu. The average price earning ratio (PE ratio) of commercial banks is less than 15 times. Based on the earnings per share of the last financial year published by the banks and the price on Thursday, the price earnings ratio of most of the commercial banks is less than 15 times.

Along with the fall in the stock market, the share prices of commercial banks have also fallen significantly. The share price of two banks has fallen below the net worth of those banks, while the share price of other banks is also seen around the net worth. As the share price of commercial banks fell to the lowest point, their price earnings ratio also decreased.

Out of 25 commercial banks, 18 banks have a PE ratio of less than 15 times. Only two banks have a PE ratio of more than 20 times. During this period, the PE ratio of Sunrise Bank is only 9.74 times while that of Prabhu Bank and Kumari Bank is only 10 times.

Among commercial banks, the PE ratio of Nabil Bank is the highest at 36.43 times, while Everest Bank has 18.59 percent, Standard Chartered Bank has 17.86 percent, Krishi Bikas Bank has 17.85 percent and Nepal SVI Bank has 17.22 percent.
