Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has tightened the payment through dollar card. Rashtra Bank has made it strict that non-necessary goods and services can be purchased from the dollar card. The National Bank has amended the Integrated Circular 2078 and has provided that dollar card cannot be used for the purchase of 18 goods and services.
Rastra Bank has arranged that 18 goods and services within the merchant category code cannot be paid for using cards.
According to Rashtra Bank, now insurance services, stamp and coin stores, payments to financial institutions, money orders (wire transfers), financial transaction fees, securities brokers and dealers, real estate agents and managers (rentals), insurance sales, underwriting and premiums can be paid through dollar card.
Similarly, card purchases and loading of stores, various services and goods (high risk types), payments to commercial banks, casinos, horse and dog races, all types of gambling, any type of political parties and religious organizations cannot be paid through cards. Rastra Bank has currently allowed banks to issue prepaid cards up to $500.
