Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has taken action against nine commercial banks that violated the rules. In the first quarter of the current financial year, the bank has taken action against the commercial banks that violated the rules.
According to Rashtra Bank, there are 9 commercial banks namely Bank of Kathmandu, Krishi Bikas Bank, Prabhu Bank, Kumari Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Himalayan Bank, Sunrise Bank, Global IME and Mega Bank among the banks that will be prosecuted in the first quarter of the current year.
Sunrise Bank and Mega Bank are among the most affected banks by Rashtra Bank. In the first quarter of the current year, the National Bank has penalized these banks 3 times. Bank of Kathmandu has been prosecuted twice. Similarly, the National Bank has taken action against Prabhu, Bank of Kathmandu, Kumari and Prime Bank for not keeping the accounts that the National Bank has instructed to freeze.
Similarly, the National Bank has fined the Agricultural Development Bank Rs. The Bank of Kathmandu has been penalized for the second time when it did not provide loans within the prescribed limits to the underprivileged. The bank has paid 2 crore 11 lakh 85 thousand 60 rupees 67 paise as damages.
The National Bank Supervision Department has taken action because most of the banks have increased the premium rate of loans against the rules. Rastra Bank has taken action against Himalayan, Sunrise, Global IME and Mega Bank for collecting interest by increasing the premium rate of loans against the rules.
