Kathmandu. Banks have allocated more than 7.5 billion for bonuses to employees. 21 commercial banks in operation have allocated 7 billion 57 crore 59 lakh 91 thousand rupees bonus for the employees. Banks have given bonuses ranging from 7 percent to 57 percent on employee expenses.
The third quarter financial statement of the current financial year 2079/80 published by the banks has shown this. About 34 billion rupees have been spent for bank employees in 9 months. During the review period, the employees of the bank received 33 billion 98 crore 97 lakh 44 thousand rupees as salary allowance.
The statistics show that the banks set aside 22.30 percent of the employees' expenses for bonuses. Under the Bonus Act, there is a legal provision for employer establishments to set aside 10 percent of the total profit for bonus employees. Banks also distribute bonuses to employees accordingly. However, some banks get more bonuses than the average and some get less.
Standard Chartered Bank has seen the highest percentage of bonus given by banks at the expense of employees. The bank has paid 72 crore 3 lakh 56 thousand rupees to the employees in 9 months. However, 57.50 percent of the salary has been allocated for bonus. This means 41 crore 43 lakh rupees.
Nabil Bank, which is considered excellent in half of the major indicators of the banks, is in the second place for distributing many bonuses to its employees. Nabil has set aside 49.50 percent of employee expenses for bonuses. In 9 months, Nabil's employees have received 1 billion 647 million rupees in salary. During the review period, the bank allocated 812.2 million rupees for bonuses.
In the past years, Prime Bank, which has been paying a lot of salaries and bonuses with few employees, is in the third place in the 9 months of the current year. The bank has spent 1 billion 95 lakh rupees for the employees till the end of March. For this reason, 38.80 percent has been allocated for bonus. The bank has allocated an amount of Rs 39 crore 15 lakh for employee bonus.
Nepal Investment Bank, which was formed by merging with Mega Bank only a few months ago, has allocated an additional amount of Rs 483.5 million for employee bonus. In the 9 months of the current year, the bank has spent 1 billion 334 million rupees for the employees. 36.20 percent of it is allocated for employee bonus.
Similarly, Everest Bank has set aside 31.40 percent of employee expenses for bonuses. In 9 months, the bank has paid 1 billion 2478 million rupees as salary and allocated 39 million 14 million rupees for employee bonus. On the other hand, Global IME Bank has spent 2 billion 43 crore 67 thousand rupees for employees in 9 months. 27.70 percent of it is allocated for employees' bonus. The bank has allocated an amount of Rs. 673.32 million for bonus.
Similarly, NIC Asia Bank, which spends the most on employees, has set aside 23.30 percent for bonuses. In 9 months, the bank has spent 2 billion 73 crore 91 lakh rupees for employees. 63 crore 72 lakh 90 thousand rupees have been allocated for bonus.
Similarly, Prabhu Bank, which paid 2.18 billion 99 million more salary, allocated 13.60 percent of it for employees' bonus. The bank has allocated an additional amount of 29.75 million for employee bonus.
The government-owned National Commercial Bank has paid 2 billion 398.6 million more salary to the employees in 9 months. The bank has set aside 23.70 percent of the salary, i.e. 567.7 million rupees more for the bonus. Similarly, NNB Bank, which paid a salary of 1.64 billion 94 million rupees, allocated a 25.70 percent bonus for its employees. The bank allocated 42.39 million more bonus to the employees.
Similarly, Nepal Bank has paid Rs 2.58 crore 12 lakh and Krishi Bikas Bank Rs 2.31 crore 88 lakh as salary to the employees. These banks have allocated 9.60 percent and 7 percent respectively ie Nepal Bank 248.6 million rupees and Krishi Bank 160 million 18 million rupees for bonuses.
On the other hand, Machhapuchhre Bank has set aside 21.45 million rupees for employee bonus, Siddharth 23.74 million rupees, Sanima 27 million rupees, Kumari 20.66 million rupees for employee bonus. These banks have paid their employees 1.43 billion 2.4 million, 1.99 billion 1.6 million, 1.5 billion 4 million and 1.71 billion 92 million rupees respectively to their employees in the 9 months of the current year.
On the other hand, Himalayan Bank has paid Rs 1.22 crore 28 lakh, Nepal SBI Rs 1.46 crore, Laxmi Rs 1.696 crore, Citizen Rs 1.21 crore and Sunrise Rs 1.678 crore. These banks have respectively paid 277.9 million (22.70 percent), 28.62 million (27.40 percent), 19.58 million (18.30 percent), 19.82 million (16.30 percent) and 18.58 million (17.40 percent) have been allocated.
