Kathmandu. During the last 15 days,  Rs. 27 billion deposits have been added to the banking system. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the total deposits of banks and financial institutions as of June 20 are 55 trillion 22 billion rupees. The total deposits of banks and financial institutions were 54 trillion 95 billion rupees as of May 4. In this calculation, deposits in the banking system increased by 27 billion rupees during this 15-day period.

During this period, the deposits of commercial banks also increased by 28 billion rupees. The total deposit of commercial banks was 48 trillion 45 billion rupees till 4th May last, but it has increased to 49 trillion 73 billion rupees till 20th May.The credit investment of banks has also increased by 5 billion rupees. The total credit investment of banks and financial institutions was 48 trillion 46 billion rupees as of 4th May last, and it has increased to 48 trillion 51 billion rupees in a period of 15 days.

The total credit investment of commercial banks has increased by 2 billion rupees in these 15 days and reached 42 trillion 97 billion rupees on May 20. As of May 4, the total credit investment of commercial banks was 42 trillion 95 billion rupees. With the increase in deposits, the loan-deposit ratio (CD ratio) of banks and financial institutions has improved. The CD ratio was 84.82 percent till May 4, but it has decreased to 84.56 percent till May 20. The interbank interest rate has also decreased and remained at 6.75 percent on May 20. On June 4, the interbank interest rate was 7 percent.
