5 and 7.5% percent Capital Gains Tax is the final tax on stock market - Finance Ministry

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Bill-2080 item no. Addressing 29, it has clarified that the final tax is 5 percent and 7.5 percent capital gains tax which is being taken in the capital market. This was made clear in the notification issued after the discussion between the agitating investors and the secretaries of the government including the Finance Minister.

In the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, it is said, "Regarding Section 29 of the Finance Bill, 2080, the legal provisions regarding the profit from the sale of listed securities invested by natural persons remain as before." This notice is issued for the information of investors and the general public regarding the final tax of 5 percent and 7.5 percent capital gains tax filed on the profits from such transactions.

Earlier, the Internal Revenue Department had not been able to publicize a clear view on capital gains tax. A notification was issued to clarify the issue of capital gains tax, sometimes as natural persons and sometimes as natural persons.

The agitating investors said that the final tax should be 5 and 7.5 percent in the capital market and the Economic Bill No. 29 of 2080. They were demanding that the point should be canceled. They had also locked all the broker houses so that the market would not be allowed to operate until their demands were met.
