'PAN number' needed to get New loan from Banks and finance institution

Kathmandu. Now, permanent account (PAN) number is also required for taking loans. The monetary policy of the current financial year 2080/81, released by the National Bank on Sunday, has made such an arrangement. As mentioned in the government's budget, the National Bank has said that the provision of mandatory permanent account numbers will be reviewed for borrowers who use loans/facilities exceeding a certain limit from banks and financial institutions.

Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari has said that he will maintain 100% risk in share mortgage loans up to 50 lakh rupees. He gave this information while clarifying the monetary policy of the current fiscal year 2080/81. Earlier, 100% risk burden was maintained only for loans up to 25 lakh rupees. However, now it is going to be increased to Rs 50 lakh.

However, for loans above 50 lakh rupees, the provisions related to the risk weight of 150 percent have been kept unchanged, said the governor's official. The National Bank has mentioned in its monetary policy to review the existing risk weighting arrangements for share mortgage loans, real estate loans and hire purchase loans.
