This means that banks have to spend more on risk management. Due to the recession in the economy after the covid, the banks have not been able to recover the loans on time. That is why the charge has increased. The financial statements of Kumari and Himalanay Bank have deteriorated due to non-payment of loans.
Although the banks have put all their manpower into recovery, it is becoming difficult to recover the debt. It is especially difficult for banks to recover loans from large borrowers than from small borrowers. However, in the last year, 6 banks have reduced the impairment charge, while the remaining 15 banks have increased the impairment charge. In the last year, Global IME Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, NMB Bank, Prabhu Bank and Krishi Bikas Bank have reduced the impairment charge kept for the management of RICS, while other banks have increased it.
Krishi Bikas Bank has reduced the Impairment Charge by 7.42 percent to Rs 919.1 million, while Global IME Bank has reduced the Impairment Charge by Rs 3.5 billion and the bank has managed its risk to Rs 2.71 billion. Krishi Bikas Bank has set aside 91.91 million impairment charges in the last financial year. It has been mentioned in the data released by Nepal Bankers that it has decreased by 7.42 percent in the previous financial year. In the previous financial year, the bank allocated 99.27 million impairment charges.
