Kathmandu. Upasana Poudel will be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Himalayan Reinsurance. The meeting of the company's board of directors held last week recommended the appointment of Paudel as CEO. The company source said that the recommendation has been sent to the Nepal Insurance Authority for approval, but the approval has not yet been received from the authority.

Poudel also admitted that the meeting of the board of directors appointed her as the CEO and informed Vikasnews that the approval of the authority is yet to come. Earlier, Indian citizen Chandrasekaran Ramamurthy was the CEO of Himalayan Ricoh. He resigned last week and the Board of Directors meeting held the same week accepted his resignation. And, the same meeting decided to appoint Poudel as the new CEO.

Paudel will take over as CEO of the company only after the authority approves the decision of the board of directors. Paudel is currently working as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the same company. Poudel, who has worked in the non-life insurance sector for about 3 years, entered the reinsurance sector i.e. Himalayan Rima as DCEO in November 2079. Before that, she was working as the Chief Executive Officer of United Insurance.

Poudel is the first female CEO in the history of Nepal's insurance sector. He has more than a decade of experience in the insurance sector. After completing her studies up to MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) of Delhi University, India, she entered the field of insurance business in India.
