Insurance Committee's instructions: Branch reduction, non-removal of staffs

Kathmandu. The Insurance Committee has instructed the insurance companies not to fire employees in special circumstances of the Corona epidemic. The Insurance Committee has given such instructions after the companies started cutting the employees showing the cause of the corona virus.

The committee has asked the branch office not to cut or merge if it is necessary to close or merge the branch office without any reduction in the services provided to the insured.

Rajuraman Poudel, executive director of the committee, said that even though the committee was ready to solve the problems faced by the companies in the current situation, it was not possible to even think about staff cuts.

Insurance companies are also in the mood to cut staff as much as possible. However, he said that in case the company is facing problems due to declining income, all options should be considered to save the company.

Chunky Chhetri, chief executive officer of Sagarmatha Insurance Company, says that homework is being done on options other than staff cuts.

Instead of merging with insurance companies due to the recent Corona epidemic, companies have focused on merging their own branches.

The Insurance Committee has also asked a company to merge with the nearest branch in case of closure of any branch.
