Kathmandu. The Nepse index closed at 10 points higher on Thursday, the last trading day of the year. The index rose by double digits to close at 2684.01 points. The transaction amount has also increased. Shares worth Rs 7.12 billion were traded today as compared to Rs 5.32 billion yesterday.

219.55 million 943 shares of 218 companies have been bought and sold. Divyashwori Hydropower Limited has witnessed the highest increase in share price. The company's share price has risen 10 percent to Rs 187.

Similarly, the highest priced shares have been bought and sold by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited. Shares of the company worth more than Rs 494 million have been bought and sold. The company's share price has stood at Rs 1,581.

Of the 13 groups that came into business, the index of 4 groups has decreased while the index of the remaining groups has increased. Industry group declined by 0.6 percent, hotel and tourism group by 0.6 percent, manufacturing and processing group by 0.3 percent and investment group by 0.39 percent.
