Kathmandu. Expressing grief over the plane crash of Yeti Airlines, the government has announced (Monday) national mourning.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paidel, who is also the spokesperson of the government, informed that the emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday decided to declare national mourning on Saturday and declare a public holiday. The government has also constituted a 5-member inquiry commission to investigate the plane crash.

The members of the commission are aviation expert Nepali Army retired Captain Deepak Prakash Bastola, retired Captain Sunil Thapa, ship maintenance engineer Ekraj Jung Thapa.

68 people have been confirmed dead in the Yeti Airlines crash. Nepal Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement and confirmed the death of 68 people. The bodies of 68 people aboard the plane of Yeti Airlines, which crashed in the gorge of the Seti river, have been found.

Anil Shahi, the Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, informed that the plane fell very low in the channel of the Seti river, and now the rescue efforts are going on using cranes. According to him, the bodies of 31 people have been taken to the Gandaki hospital in Pokhara.

Among those who died in the accident, 11 people have been identified. According to District Police Office Kaski, Nishant Acharya, Sangeeta Shahi, Lakshmi Paudel, Sushil Shrestha, Sadarat Alimia, Dr. Sena Diwakar, Rian Paudel, Preshti Paudel, Arun Paudel, Purnakumar Gurung and Korean citizen Yu Kangul have been identified.
