ADB approves Rs 30 billion loan to Nepal to fight Corona

Kathmandu. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided a loan of about US Dollor 250 million (around Rs 30 billion)  to the Government of Nepal to fight the corona virus. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved loan assistance for strengthening public health services and reducing the economic and social damage caused by COVID (19).

Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masatugu Asakawa said that the Bank was with Nepal in the face of adversity and provided the concessional loan to the Government of Nepal.

ADB also mentioned working with the Government of Nepal and other development partners.

Nepal has also received a loan of US dollar 250 million under the Covid-19 Active Response and Expenditure Assistance (CARES) program. Through this program, the Government of Nepal will be able to create at least 200,000 quarantines in all seven provinces and test the corona of 3,000 people daily, according to ADB.

The government will be able to use this assistance to distribute food to poor and low-income families, provide employment to low-income unemployed people and also run social security programs.
