The government has given tax exemptions to government and non-government bodies in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. Most of the NGOs and INGOs have been exempted in this way.
The government has given revenue exemption of Rs 6.85 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Finance. As per the provision made in Article 18 of the Finance Act 2076 BS, the Ministry of Finance has given exemption to 98 different organizations and projects on imported goods. There are a large number of non-governmental organizations among the organizations that get such exemptions.
Similarly, tax exemption has been given to large hydropower projects, hospitals and private business companies from government subordinate offices. The government has given a revenue exemption for importing goods worth Rs. 21.59 billion. There are four government-owned institutions and bodies that get more than Rs 1 billion in revenue exemption.
Nepal Electricity Authority has given revenue exemption of Rs 1.64 billion. NEA has purchased electrical construction equipment worth Rs 5.35 billion. The government has given a revenue exemption of Rs 1.19 billion after the Nepal Oil Corporation imported goods worth Rs 6.71 billion.
The Nepal Army Headquarters has given a revenue exemption of Rs. 875.55 million. The government has given a revenue exemption of more than Rs 1.19 billion to the non-governmental organization China Camsi Engineering Company. Hajma & Corporation is in the forefront of the list of 26 companies that get revenue discount of over Rs 10 million. The corporation has received revenue rebate of Rs 168.9 million during the period from July to February.
Tanahu Hydropower has received revenue exemption of Rs 110 million. Ircon International Limited has given Rs 88.5 million and Nyadi Hydropower Company has given Rs 74.1 million. 2Z Infra Engineering has given a revenue discount of Rs 35.40 million. China Aid Project has received Rs 22.5 million, China International Water Rs 14.4 million and Upper Tamakoshi Project Rs 3.074 million.
