Banker Upendra Poudyal appointed chairman of Nabil Bank

Kathmandu. Upendra Poudyal has been appointed as the new chairman of Nabil Bank. Poudyal, who joined the bank as a director on December 3, 2008, has been made the chairman by the board of directors after three years. He is also currently the Regional Representative for Asia Pacific's Global Alliance for Banking on Value in Nepal.

 Poudyal, who started his banking career from Nepal Rastra Bank, joined Nabil Bank on January 11, 2008 on behalf of the general shareholders.

Poudyal's contribution to the development of the bank's sector is commendable. The progress made by the bank under his leadership has been remarkable. Similarly, Agrawal had been the manager of the bank for more than 26 years. He was first appointed as the operator on behalf of the general shareholders on September 3, 2008. After that, he was appointed as the continuous director till 2016.

Poudyal, who has more than three decades of experience in the banking sector, was previously the founding chief executive officer of NMB Bank Limited. He started his banking career in 1986 with Greenland Bank. After assuming responsibility there for 14 years, he joined NM BFinance.

At NMB, he has served the banking sector continuously for 17 years. He has 34 years of banking experience including 14 years Greenland Bank, 17 years NMB and 3 years Nabil Bank.

Poudyal, who started his professional career from a hotel, worked at the Salty Hotel for about six years. He then joined Standard Chartered (then Nepal Greenland Bank). He has worked there for about 14 years. Poudyal, who has been involved in various fields of social service, was also the president of the Nepal Bankers Association from 2014 to 2016.
