Nepal Telecom's 5 G service is free for one year But new mobile required to run 5G

Kathmandu. For the first time, Nepal Telecom has received approval for the FiveG test. The Radio Frequency Determination Committee, chaired by Information Technology and Communications Minister Parbat Gurung, has given permission for one year to test FiveG through telecom.

According to Santosh Poudel, spokesperson of the Telecommunication Authority of Nepal, the Radio Frequency Determination Committee at the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication has given Nepal Telecom for one year nationwide testing as it is necessary to test FiveG in Nepal.

"It's not an upgraded version of FiveG Forge. However, Nepal Telecom spokesperson Rajesh Joshi said that there was a plan to expand the 4G service as there was an agreement on the expansion of the 5G service at the time of the agreement.

This technology with high speed internet facility requires suitable frequencies and devices. As the government is working according to the concept of 'Digital Nepal', it has been said that FiveG technology can be a gift to make it a reality. However, there are no mobile sets available in the market to run the 5G technology and even that has to be prepared for import, says Joshi.

2G, 3G and 4G technologies are currently in use in Nepal. Service providers have invested billions in Forge. The government plans to introduce a five-year policy to save that investment as well.
