Kathmandu. So far, 60,587 people have received claims on Covid-19 insurance policy. So far, 91,673 people have applied for corona insurance.

According to the Insurance Committee, claims worth Rs 5.85 billion have been paid till April 12. There was a delay in payment of the claim till last October. However, lately, claims are being paid regularly.

Of those who applied, 666 will not receive the claim amount. Those who became infected with corona during the waiting period, submitted fake PCR reports and applied for duplicates will not receive the claim amount.

Last time, 37,386 applications were sent to the ministry for approval of PCR reports. Of these, 18,527 applications have been approved and 18,859 applications are with the Ministry of Health for PCR report verification. Executive Director of the Insurance Committee Rajuraman Poudel said that the remaining applications will be paid after completing the necessary process.

As per the Corona insurance criteria, claims of more than Rs 3.5 billion are paid from government funds. Corona insurance claims payment has already exceeded that limit. However, insurance companies have been paying claims from their own funds.
