Kathmandu. It has been confirmed that the corona virus spreading in Nepal is of Indian variant. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a new variant was confirmed last year when 35 samples were collected and sequenced in a lab in India.
According to the results obtained, 97 percent or B1.617.2 new variant has been confirmed in 34 samples and B1.617.1 has been confirmed in three percent or one sample. Both these variants were first found in India.
The World Health Organization announced this variant on May 10 as a global variant of concern. At the same time, three variants of the modified virus have been confirmed in Nepal, the ministry said. Earlier, the British variant was also spread in Nepal.
The ministry said the variant was found to be contagious and risky in all age groups.
