Kathmandu. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in the Melamchi area of ​​Helambu in Sindhupalchowk district on Tuesday evening due to incessant rains. Police said that the landslide took place at Nakote in Helambu-1, 9 km above the Melamchi drinking water source. The bridge connecting Melamchi-Nawalpur-Chautara has also been washed away. Suspension bridges have also been washed away in some places.

Floods and landslides on Tuesday blocked road traffic in the area. A Nepal Army team, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are conducting rescue operations.

So far, more than 50 people have gone missing. Chief District Officer Arun Pokharel informed that the details of Akin area could not be ascertained due to low water level in the river and lack of road access.
